György Verebes was born in Zenta in 1965, Yugoslavia. He has been painting since 1988. He was art director at a graphic studio between 1997-2003, and was art director at the Lurdy Gallery from 1998 until 2002. He became art director at the world famous Art Colony of Szolnok in 2003. He had been teaching at the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Budapest between 2007 and 2011. Besides being a painter, he is also a writer and gets published regularly. He became member of the Old Art Colony of Szentendre Cultural Association. He regularly takes part at different art colonies both national and international. He creates book illustrations, stage designs and interior images. He has been member of numerous jazz and worldly bands as founder, piano player and composer since 1990. He composed music for the theater as well. He had more than 50 single exhibitions and took part in almost 100 collective exhibitions all over the world. Many of his paintings are in private or public collection. In 2017 he was awarded the Munkácsy Mihály Prize as a recognition of his professional achievement.
After graduating highschool at chemistry faculty in 1985, he studied at the graphic faculty of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. He graduated in 1989. He carried on with his studies at the Academy at the painting faculty, he graduated again in 1992.
