Verity Pulford

I am a Glass Artist living and working in North Wales. I studied Applied Art/Architectural Glass at N.E.W.I in 2006 and gained a 1st Class Hons. Degree. I create wall pieces, vessels, functional ware, jewellery and architectural commissions using fusing, sandblasting and other glass techniques. I sell and exhibit my work in galleries and outlets throughout the U.K.

In my current work I am investigating light and layers within nature. My inspiration comes from the beautiful countryside around me in North Wales, the mountains, forests, rivers and meadows. I am influenced by the seasons, using plants which I have collected from my garden and the countryside. In this way my work is constantly evolving- every piece being unique. I fuse glass, coloured frits, enamels and use sandblasting to create layers of pattern and depth, sometimes combining this with handpainted and screenprinted imagery. The pieces are fired several times to create these effects.

My installation work has been about communicating memories and emotions. The way in which they are viewed is crucial, the glass has been displayed with under lighting in either small boxes, sets of drawers or tunnels which the viewer has to interact with. I want the viewer to feel...
