Victoria Malcolm

I have a well-developed practice, having trained originally at Hammersmith College in London in the 1970s and at West Wales School og the Arts, graduating with a 1st class BA Hons in 2009 . I developed a series of paintings exploring the theme of street life, based on my drawings and photographs made in the local town. My interests lie in the interpretation of imagery from many sources and visual traditions in western art; the pingpong of borrowings and quotations reflected in contemporary image making. Ultimately I almost always tranlate everything back into the language of paint but increasingly now I will let photography and film speak for itself.I am concerned with information content, documentary and the seductive qualities of traditional representational pictures redeployed in the service of commerce and propaganda.
