I have recently graduated from Lancaster University with a BA Honors in Fine Art.

My practice explores the notion of lost memories; the paintings are essentially about the relationship to my childhood using the landscape as a vehicle to convey these memories.
When I reflect on my childhood I remember particular sensations; I see myself running through the sand dunes, the wind in my hair and the sand falling between my fingers. I seek to express these sensations.
The paintings focus on the natural processes of the landscape; using materials and objects as metaphors for my memories, for example the pull and drift of the tide, the burying and re-emergence of objects.
I experiment with the properties and processes of oil paints, creating a mystical and isolated atmosphere in the familiar landscape. The erosive nature of the paint is symbolic of the physical erosion of the coast line and the erosion of my memories fading as time passes.
I want the viewer to engage, respond and reflect on their own memories. I aim to pursue the sense of distancing memories and nostalg...
