Martin Wallace

Born in 1952 in Birmingham, England.Male. Live and work in France, since 1980.

I paint mainly at my studio, in Brittany. Also, I spend time in Paris, where I plan and make large scale architectural 'commandes', orders of a sculptural nature.
Insomuch as concerns my painting,the work is concerned principly with image, composition, and its allusive potential.
I attempt to recreate scenes snatched from the fleeting instant, to illuminate fragments of the latent drama of the moment on which existance casts its shadow.
The realist style permits me to juggle with the obscure lucidity of fever dreams, the confused and crystaline illusions of the human condition.
I consider my work as a form of 'Pulp Art', iconographic and polymorphe, born of a capricious modernity, tyranical, trasitory and cynical; the pleasure and the pain, the Divine Comedy.
