Wanda Oliver

I am a painter working in oil and cold wax medium. If I were a singer, I would sing hosannas, but I am a painter, so I must paint them - dynamic and energetic images, characterized by bold color and rich tactile surfaces that hint of hidden messages and layers of meaning.

I add and subtract paint, mark, scrape, and dig. The tool I use least is a brush. One of my most beloved tools is a rock I found outside my studio. I seek bold, expressive freedom and joy in my work.

My degree is in math and computer science. My skill as an artist has been developed through community collage classes, workshops, seminars, and personal research and experimentation.
