Ralph Wettach

Ralph Wettach, born in 1966 in Vienna, Austria takes the inspiration for his art from the places he has lived in, his travels and the legacy of his grandfather and great-grandfather, both of whom studied and succeeded as recognised painters and artists within central-Europe.



Painting mostly with acrylic and resin on a variety of surfaces, Ralph employs a selection of tools to achieve multiple layers with strong textures and substance. His technique and approach are based on impulse and spontaneity - never fully knowing where a painting will lead him or how it will end. Taking weeks and sometimes months to complete, Ralph's paintings adapt and transform through a visceral process with layer upon layer documenting each painting's route from beginning to completion. Each one, a piece of living art, burying layers of alternate paths, emotions and responses to everyday experiences.
