Georg C. Wirnharter was born in 1954 in Aichach, Germany. Wirnharter started studying at the Akademie der bildenden Künste in Munich in 1974, then proceeded to graduate in 1978. After graduating he started his career in teaching, and continued teaching art until 2017 in Augsburg, Germany. Additionally to improve his abilitys as an artist he attended a masterclass by Bernhard Heisig in 1990. He currently resides in Augsburg, Germany. Throughout his career he has continued to create art in his free time, in addition to teaching. Currently, Wirnharter is retired and is completely committed to his art. During his adult life he has been apart of over one hundred group and solo exhibitions. These exhibitions have been hosted in Germany and abroad. His work is apart of private collections in Germany, France, Japan, and the United States. Wirnharter has received the “Ecke Galerie" award in Augsburg, along with other awards in the Augsburg district. His work has been predominantly focused on realistic oil on canvas paintings, realistic drawings and realistic printmaking.
