Nature is my source for endless subjects, from simple forms to complex patterns it is always compelling. It is abstract and exotic, with repetition of shapes and patterns, the interplay of light and shadow along with the amazing range of colors. I am pleased to share my interpretation of the beauty we have around us.
" In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous." Aristotle
I believe everyone should own original art. Art is a story, inspiration, feeling or emotion something we all relate to in our own individual way. I pick particular views based on how they affect me. Often it's how light and shadows create shapes and images, sometimes it's the beauty of looking at things up close, or the repetition of shapes and lines that create a pattern. I paint with acrylic paints, I actually like that they dry fast, it keeps the color fresh and I can build the painting with layers. I mainly paint botanicals and landscapes but I also paint figures, portraits and whatever inspires me.
I began my study of art as a teen at Rocky Mountain School of Art, then at Colorado State University and received my BFA from California College of Arts in Oakland, CA. Always in the creative mind, I spent many years as an illustrator, editorial artist, creative director, corporate marketing executive and agency owner. But painting has always been my joy, relaxation and passion. Over the years I continued my art edification at Art Students League of Denver, Rocky Mountain College of Art, Arapahoe Community College, Colorado Art Institute, Pacific Art League and most recently as a student and teacher at Colorado Mountain College and Arapahoe Community College.
As a member and board member past and present of Silicon Valley Open Studios, Atherton Arts Foundation, Town of Atherton Art Committee, Pacific Art League, Vail Valley Art Guild, and Art in Public Places Parker, CO I am active in my art communities.
