Anastasia Yackunaite

Hello! Let me introduce myself, and tell you a little about my story. I was born in 1995 in Saint-Petersburg, in Russia. Throughout my childhood I've experimented with painting, drawing and sketching, having been inspired by my mum who is herself a painter. When I graduated from high school, I felt that painting might not be possible as a serious job, and so I studied for my Masters Degree in Organic Chemistry at Herzen State University. I really enjoyed my studies, but throughout this period I continued to paint and sketch.
When the pandemic came, I found myself with a lot of free time at home. That was when I started to work on oil paintings, and in February 2021 I left my job as a manager and continued working full time on my paintings. Now I feel perfectly happy and proud for having made this brave choice.
My husband and all of my friends support me in my dreams, and even help me to sell my paintings. It amuses me that my degree and experience with organic chemistry even helps me to understand the chemical structure of oil paints!
