Yanel Sánchez

Yanel Sánchez (Caracas- Venezuela, 1981) began his exhibition career in 2004 in the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). Presently his creative work is focused in Digital Op Art and is based on Glicée and video-animation. The artistic proposal combines colors and shapes, producing a strong expression of apparent volume.

He has received several honors/awards and his work is represented in prestigious galleries.

Lives and works in Heredia-Costa Rica.


Combines “art, science and technology” starting from algorithms. The technical means of Yanel are convincing and produce esthetical results. In his proposal, the artist contrasts and combines two movements: Optical Art or "Op Art" and Digital Art. In his work we could find influences of Bridget Riley, Víctor Vasarely, Jaacov Agam, and Venezuelans Jesús Soto and Carlos Cruz-Diez, recognized worldwide for their contributions to the art of twentieth century.
