Yuki Harada is an emerging young artist based in Kyoto, Japan. She uses traditional Japanese painting materials, such as natural rock pigment and Washi paper to express her unique worldview. The style that captures a moment of child's expression attracts viewers. Especially, the beauty of the lines has been highly appreciated by art professionals.
At Kyoto International Film Festival 2014, she won the Excellence Award for "Senkō Girl" in Art category and received many awards at other contests.
Traditionally, Japanese paintings often feature the beautiful nature of Japan, but in modern era, artists freely express motifs from their own perspectives. Like a “Bijin-ga” (drawing female figure as a motif), she draws child's figure cutely as “Itohoshi-ga”. And she hopes that viewers love their children more, and it brings them back memories of their childhood.
