Mihai Zgondoiu (b. 1982, Romania) is an independent artist, curator and gallerist with a PhD in visual arts. Since 2014 he is an associate PhD lecturer at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, and from 2018 and at the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timisoara.
Mihai was also the initiator and coordinator of the „Atelier 030202” gallery in Bucharest (2009 to date), co-curator of the „geamMAT” gallery of the Art Museum in Timisoara (2012 - 2014) and co-curator of the „Atelier in transition” artist run space (2009 -2013).
His projects, either personal or curatorial, evoke a critical (and self-critical) spirit towards thought clichés in today's society, parodying the false values and icons created by the new media through different types of fake news propaganda.
In 2017 he won the Prize of the Romanian Union of Plastic Artists for "Art in the public space", and in 2019 the JCE (Jeune Creation Europeenne) Contemporary Art Bienalle – Romanian selection.
