Yolanda Warnich (b. 1972, Cape Town) I am a visual artist living and working in South Africa. Working in the commercial photography industry for the past year has influenced my art making considerably - a renewed interest in objects and their materiality welling up across contemporary art of the last decade due to the prevalence of digital photography - a notion that has been explored in some depth with sculptural practices has caused for artist to engage differently with the tool (camera) and art object. My background as a painter greatly influences the way in which I approach and apply the camera in creating images. The imagery in my recent body of work evoke rather than document my surrounding landscape - be that physical or virtual.
