Tony Driver

I initially started painting in 1984 after being influenced by New York graffiti culture. Unfortunately, I never realised that my level of ability would not match the kind of wild style typography I wanted to emulate and so remained largely unfocused in each drawing, to the extent I would never save or archive anything. It wasn't until 2008 when I finally realised there was a constant in these unfinished and discarded pieces, which were continuous line drawings, that I could define better by abstraction, which I have successfully managed to develop as an ongoing practice.
