Marek Fijalkowski

Born in 1974 in Poland. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, Poland, in 2001. He creates mostly oil paintings and pastels, as well as collages. The main subjects of his paintings are women and their image in mass culture. Although he portrays women's outer beauty, he is much more interested in bringing to the surface their internal beauty. His paintings are based on cropped photos and sketches, which are compiled in his studio. These prepared images and sketches are enhanced using a variety of techniques to build up an atmosphere and ensure that the psychological depth of the models are transferred onto canvas. Marek has had a number of individual exhibitions. He has also participated with Polish and European colleagues in group exhibitions. His paintings can be found in collections in Poland and abroad.
