"Lady of the Deep", 2013, 11.5" X 14.5", Micron and Watercolor on Paper Upon a subterranean expedition to the ruins of Malta, I sketched this image of the Lady of the Deep, Mistress Blibdoolpoolp, with our guide, Mycroft Cutler. A. Mistress Blibdoolpoolp, Siren of the Waves, Merchant of Watery Death, and Drowning Asphyxiation Domme B. Mycroft Cutler, Explorer and Underwater Guide. In this image, his visage of abject terror of being drowned by the creature to his right is masked by his laissez-faire posture and two inches of mirrored pressurized helmet glass. C. What the Mistress referred to as “My Dangly” D. Steel and Titanium reinforced Diving Bell Helmet E. Spike-heeled Clodhoppers merged with the lower portions of Mssr. Cutler’s Diving Suit F. Sunken artifacts of Malta have slowly been acclimated by the Mistress and her ancestors over the last three centuries into this gaudy undersea lair. G. This Urn contains the remains of former explorers/lovers whom the Mistress has strangled or drowned after “convincing” them to stay with her permanently. After she devours them, only small tidbits remain, which she keeps as mementos of her former infatuations. H. This hand was responsible for severing the air tubing to Mssr. Mycroft Cutler’s Diving Bell shortly after he turned his back on the Mistress. I. A fine Ottoman Rug remarkably preserved in the underwater environs. I must look into the many Eye-Related motifs woven within. J. Mssr. Cutler’s Thrice-Insulated Leather Diving Suit K. The Mistress’s Throne, Constructed from a massive Clam Shell and Sperm Whale Bones L. All light within the Mistress’s Lair was provided from her singular bioluminescence. M. The Mistress’s Dress, woven from fine strands of Kelp and Living Algae N. The Pitted Blackness of the Hoplessness Beyond O. Cutler’s Undoing – This loose valve proved fairly easy to tighten and asphyxiate him into Mistress Blibdoolpoolp’s clutches permanently. Only through her undivided attention on his choking screams was I able to flee with my life.
