About the Artist
Charles Stuart
These paintings are imagined rather than observed. They are expressive and colourful. It's all about the painting process, applying colour, using texture, making marks, the surface. Paintings develop over time. They may appear finished at one point but then later are reworked. The work you like may have been several other versions during its lifetime. My enduring influences are many but include mostly Turner, Rembrandt and Rothko.
All my paintings are painted around the edges and therefore may not need framing.
