Chris Odonnell

I trained as an architect (back in the days before serious 3d cad) and so got a thorough training in drawing, perspective, scale, composition,shadow, depth and geospatial awareness with some life drawing and painting training. Was lucky enough to have famous NZ artists (Pat Hanley and Claudia Pond-Eyley) teach at the university in those days, and they would take us out in all weathers and environments until we could see and sketch anything. When I spent three months in Mexico in 2017 I finally had the time and space to resurrect my art practice and started with acrylics which was a medium I hadn't used before and have not stopped since.

Obtained a Bachelor of Architecture from Auckland University in 1989 where training included sketching, perspectives plus life drawing, pastels and watercolour over a 4 year period. I recently have been doing short courses including Mathew Browne Art School in Auckland.
