Elie Elgarat

My name is Eli Elgarat, I was born 60 years ago in Tel Aviv and I'm a member of Kibbutz Nir Oz since 1972. I grew up in Bat-Yam. I signed up to the Israeli Army, like every young Israeli man at the time, and I served in the paratroopers unit. Towards the end of the Army service I was involved in a car accident and was badly injured. I recovered from the injury with great effort. I returned to the Army to serve in the reserve paratroopers unit and participated in the Yom-Kippur War and the First Lebanon War.

I studied in the prestige Academy of Art and Design "Bezalel" in Jerusalem, but I did not finish my academic duties at the time. Only later I received my degree in culture and art from the Academy College "Sapir".

In 1976 I married my beloved Jeanine and we brought our two amazing sons, Sharon and Tom. In 2006 a disaster happened, Jeanine, died of cancer. Today I have five wonderful grandchildren.
