My work currently centres on Lolita fashion. There seems to be some confusion about Lolita fashion. It is not a term coined from the novel ‘Lolita’, nor is it about looking sexy. It is about looking cute. It allows women to express their inner princess and innocence. It allows them to be free again.
I love the style because it is so unique. It looks unreal and makes the girls look as if they have been cut out and pasted here from the Rococo era. I enjoy the quality and detail in the dresses, which are enjoyable to draw.

Rococo doesn’t take itself too seriously; its style is ornate and asymmetrical, its themes are playful and witty. It developed in 18th century Paris as a reaction against the grandeur of the Baroque style. In a similar way the Lolita style is a reaction against serious fashion. I am drawn to its fairy-tale quality.

As an artist I want my work to reflect true feelings. Emotion is the most important thing. It is about women, love, fashion and heartbreak. People do, however, always see what they want to see when they look at it.
