Caryn Cast

Caryn Cast is a visual artist, painter, and illustrator. Growing up on the Gulf Coast of Florida, she was influenced in her formative years by soil and sea, crafting myriad pastel portraits before taking up illustration, where she found her true passion. Having received a degree in Illustration from Pratt Institute, Caryn has exhibited her artwork in Nashville, Providence, and New York City galleries. She has also been featured in NY Arts Magazine, The Nashville Scene, Nashville Arts, and Anthology Magazine. Her new body of work typifies life's curious, introspective, and whimsical moments through storybook, editorial, and political illustrations. Some larger-scale works include murals of disreputable dictators, the most notable making it to Time Out New York and the front page of Reddit in October 2012. Her murals can be seen in the
neighborhoods of Harlem, Astoria, Fresh Meadows, and upstate New York.  She currently lives and creates out of her studio in Astoria, Queens.
