Havign trained at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff, I am now based in Leith, Edinburgh.
My ceramics turn everyday items into a collage of pleasurable extravagance. I use luxurious porcelain and bone china but remove the formality of the materials so they simply drip with the desire of momentary self-indulgence: chocolate, strawberries, cherries ooze frivolity, laced with a slightly sinister edge.
I use slip-casting techniques to produce high-quality items that defy the throwaway nature of their subject matter. I bring transient materials into the making process, interrupting the formality of the traditional techniques by using cake decorating and sugar-craft tools to "˜ice' the cast objects with porcelain slip, and even mounting the final works in mounds of icing.
Studied to undergraduate level (BDes Hons) and Dundcan ofJordanstone in Dundee, and graduated with an MA from UWIC (Cardiff) in 2004.
Regular exhibitor with the various scottish societies including RSA, VAS, SSA, RGI. Recent exhibitions include Biennale D'Andennes (Belgium), Dundee Contemporary Arts, and Bluecoat (Liverpool).,
