Thorpeness 1973I grew up and worked travelling the world with Footsbarn Travelling Theatre Company, returning to the UK in 1997 to pursue a career as a visual artist. Since completing my BA in Fine Art, my work has featured in many group shows at galleries such as the Tate Britain, Hales gallery and the Museum of Garden History. I have shown in a variety of spaces such as churches, museums and galleries in domestic spaces, and have increasingly become interested in the relationship between place and the object, surface and the projection image. My current practice focuses on perception and an interruption of the viewers space with the use of three-dimensional projection. Working with 16 mm film and 35 mm transparencies I explore the way projection can change the nature of space and how we relate/interact with it. Im interested in the connection between physical reality and filmic reality and try to occupy a place between fact and fiction, pervaded by a sense of elusiveness, a search for something that exists as much in the imagination as anywhere elseLandscape is the work of the mind. Its scenery is built up as much from strata of memory as from layers of rock.
