Margit Orlogi (*1958 in Lower Bavaria), German sculptress and painter, apprenticeship in Italy (Carrara, Pietrasanta), lives and works in Lower Bavaria and in stone centres worldwide as well.

There’s a recurrent theme in Margit’s works, some kind of comprehensive signature shaping her paintings as well as her sculptures. In both, Margit succeeds in expanding into the core, in transforming the surface of a canvas or a stone in such a way that hidden images become visible.

As a sculptress, she treats each stone like a companion: gently, inquiringly, interrogatively. It’s like a dialogue. Usually, she faces monumental fragments of granite, marble, sandstone or travertine. Margit sees the structures and stories hidden in the stone and reveals them with a sculptress’s tools. She scrapes, scratches, breaks stones and cuts. She helps the stone to find complete expression. Once polished, it starts to sparkle and inner images come to light.
