Amy Goodman

I was born in Windsor in the UK, on 31st August 1974.
I am a figurative artist who loves to work in varying mediums and dimensions, though I particularly like creating large scale works

I like to try and capture the character and life-essence of my subject matter. Even better if I achieve it using a seemingly dead material such as steel rod. Sometimes, for variety and change which is important for me, I like to work with clay. It's so tactile and you can really feel the form, achieving the delicate balance between areas of detail and areas that are roughly hewn yet energised. Sculptors I admire? Rodin, and the way he injected real psychological expression into his works, human emotion. Rodin, Degas; latter artists, Dame Elizabeth Frink, Anthony Gormley, Judy Boyt. I also love a lot of Japanese and Chinese Ink wash paintings, an influence for some of my 2D work
