About Daniel Bourke
My paintings explore how objects are experienced in today's visual language that has become so over satu- rated with technical imagery, by juxtaposing organic and technological elements (such as QC codes and flowers). I do this through the language of oil paint by bringing together a range of influences from the dutch still life genre to artists such as Benjamin Edward's, Michael Craig-Martin and Frank Auerbach. I am fasci- nated how paint can speak to us on many different levels it can be soft and gentle or loud and assertive. I believe that a great painting can be all of these things all at once.
