I was born 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities from the University of Minnesota in 1968. I moved to Sweden in 1974.
I have worked with many different styles and techniques over the years but the major change came when I started painting outdoors. This lead to still life painting which I have worked with for some 25 years.
My goals: Light is the subject of my still life painting, captured in a dynamic composition of forms and lines. The play of light on surfaces, around objects, in reflections and shadows is a multifaceted spectacle of colour. Transparent paints make for glowing colours and colour-mixing on a palette of the primary colours - red, yellow and blue - produces a full scale of nuances. Each nuance painted separately so they stand clearly visible. In a successful painting, colour is light, objects and surfaces lack significance, and what you see is the light.
Art school at the University of Minnesota 1969-70.
