About Jonathan Sparrow
I was born in 1988 in Bromsgrove, England.
I studied a foundation diploma in visual arts at Birmingham City University and then went on to graduate with a BA(hons) degree in Fine Art from Loughborough University.
After my graduation I moved back home for a month before deciding that the best way to establish my career as an up and coming artist was to move away. London was my chosen destination.
London immediately started to present me with new opportunities and before long I was self employed and making a living as a commission painter. The transition between painting what I wanted to paint and painting what somebody else wanted me to paint flowed naturally and I thrived on the pressure that this brought. I have since grown into a very confident artist who welcomes any new challenge.
Commission painting has also changed my outlook somewhat on the style of work that I want to make and ultimately become known for. I have become more in-tune with the types of imagery that I enjoy working with as well as the imagery that best suits my painting style and technique.
Recently I have been balancing my time equally between commissions and my own work and am thoroughly enjoying the contrast that this provides.
