"I'm interested in the choice to make paintings now and what makes painting particular to our our time. Specifically, I'm interested in the influence that working with contemporary digital tools and methods has on back onto the act and outcomes of painting.

In this regard, my work is “post analog” and I applying methods and techniques of image making in software programs like Photoshop and Illustrator back into made-by-hand oil and wax paintings.

Every work starts with binary graphite drawings coded in marks of dots and dashes. Gestural brush marks then contrast with dense impasto silhouetted shapes rendered in neutral photo gray.

My content is representational and maps the negative space around figures in metaphorical conversation about the relationship of the IRL (in-real-life) body to the body in VR or cyberspace. My compositions recall layflat product shots, selfies, or other visual memes played out over social media channels such as Instagram.
