I use the elements of my everyday life to inform my pieces and I combine the visual culture of Yucatan with my own experiences and memories of the US and Europe. My paintings are an examination of form, colour and space and I try to surprise myself with the results. I am always looking for fresh ideas and I try to paint without preconceived ideas in an attempt to reinvent my process each time I work. I am influenced by 'visionary' painter Forrest Bess and by Myron Stout, Arthur Dove, Paul Klee and Chris Martin and I also find inspiration in Guston, Baselitz and Kippenberger.
