Marilyn has been a professional artist since 2002 and travels away from New Zealand each year to expand her experiences of life and indulge in the richness of other cultures.
Dancing Argentine tango and competitive ballroom are some of her many interests.
New paintings are largely expressive, organically evolving works from the heart.Wildly fantastic images of other worldly plants and animals and insects. Older works focus largely on landscapes although she has small collections of allegorical figure and abstract works. She endeavours to portray her passion for her environment in her work. Working mainly in acrylic and sometimes textural media on canvas, Marilyn indulges in experimenting with colour and the effects of paint laid over rough and uneven surfaces. She has a passion for working with the juxtaposition and resonance of colour....light and vibration.

Influenced by local New Zealand artist Toss Woollaston and the Blue Rider expressionists, Kandinsky, Franz Marc and Gabrielle Munter.
Some works have been influenced by Gustav Klimt, she adores his use of pattern and gold metallic effects.
