Mark Forde

Born in Dublin, Ireland, living in Los Angeles. I started as a figurative painter and was the youngest Artist to exhibit with the legendary "Independent Artists Group" alongside the works of Bernd Koberling, Patrick Graham, Brian Maguire among others. After a brief flirtation with abstract landscapes I returned to my figurative roots.

In 2001 I had a solo exhibition open in Boston four days after the Sept 11th attacks on New York. Having lived in New York in the Nineties, and having created a body of work titled "A New York Suite"which I exhibited in an earlier solo show in Dublin. I decided it was time to return to the figure and destroyed all the paintings from this 2001 exhibition. The Sept 11th attacks were a catalyst for my return to figuration.
