Maureen Stephenson

I had the opportunity to study art in 1996 after working full time since leaving school, and since then have undertaken various courses, culminating in a BA (Hons.) degree in Fine Art at Newcastle University, graduating in 2003. Living in Northumberland, it is difficult not to be inspired by the wonderful coastline and impressive countryside.

Although my main interest is in colour, I've focussed particularly on water in all its various forms be it condensation streaming down a window or reflections in canals/rivers/harbours. I do, however, venture into other areas, particularly landscape and latterly figurative work.

My work is mainly oil or acrylic on canvas although I do work in other media when necessary.

I've shown extensively throughout England and recently ventured into the US market.

My paintings are held in the collection of Newcastle University and private collections both here and abroad.
