Photograph is a mutilating process. This action hides what is not in the field of the vision. We can say about a « decisive rectangle » (like the « decisive moment »). A quadruple scalpel cuts the field of the vision. The space of every captured picture is missing. Photography doesn’t fold up space like painting (Adorno) but maims it. This is specific to Photography.
