Rafael Salazar

Rafael Salazar is a Colombian-born contemporary artist whose work explores the invisible forces that shape human experience — movement, memory, emotion, energy, and transformation.

Over decades of artistic practice, Salazar has worked across painting, digital art, sculpture, and mixed media, developing a visual language in which form is never entirely still. Color, geometry, rhythm, and space become carriers of emotion rather than purely formal elements.

His evolving body of work gave rise to **Motionalism™**, an artistic movement founded on a simple idea: **motion becomes perception, perception becomes emotion, and emotion becomes feeling.**

For Salazar, art is not merely something to observe. It is something to experience.

His recent works continue this inquiry through abstract compositions that balance movement and stillness, tension and harmony, structure and intuition. Each work exists as a moment of transformation — an invitation for the viewer to encounter not only what is visible, but what moves within.

Barranquilla introduced him to the world of arts amongst some of the most renowned Colombian artists from el 'Grupo Barranquilla' during the La Cueva era.

A humanitarian initiative by Rafael Salazar, continuing the spirit of his earlier Art to the Rescue auction—an open call that invited Colombian and international artists to donate artwork in support of communities affected by disaster in Colombia.
