Roderick. K. Newlands graduated from the ‘Royal College of Art’ in 1978 and has been practicing as a professional artist since 1974. In 1979 Newlands was awarded a fellowship to ‘Cheltenham College of Art.’ Newlands exhibits both nationally and internationally and has exhibited at the Royal Summer Academy shows and Royal Scottish Academy exhibitions on a number of occasions. Newlands has won two major awards from the Royal Scottish Academy. He was based in Norfolk from 1980 lecturing at both Yarmouth and Norwich Schools of art. He was course leader and tutor of the Foundation studies course at ‘Norwich School of art and design’ between 1989 and 2006. Newlands developed a series of works in response to the island of Cyprus for the 'Paphos European Capital of Culture 2017' and he continues to exhibit internationally.
