Whatever catches your eye, whatever intrigues you, the world around you, the essence of life…...
Art allows us to capture something so it can be revealed, remembered, reconsidered, relived or enjoyed anew.
By using light, color, shapes and shadows, an artist can convey a certain beauty, drama, or mood.
I thoroughly enjoy capturing what I see and emphasizing an element of the subject that intrigues me.
And, once having painted or drawn a subject, a lasting connection is cultivated.
For instance, I have painted birch trees and now find that whenever I see birch trees, I’m compelled to stop a moment and admire them.
Sometimes it seems that a painting or drawing will take on a life of its own.
Then, the canvas or paper is no longer just a recipient of medium.
This is what makes creating art a dynamically interactive and transcending experience! It’s addicting!
