Steven James Petruccio

Born in 1961 in Brooklyn, New York. I had no formal art training until entering the School of Visual Arts in NYC with a recommendation from Burne Hogarth. My work reflects things which are familiar to me. The Hudson Valley and the coast of Long Island. Using both acrylic and watercolor I create images and show the viewer my take on traditional subjects. Once referred to as "the poor man's Wyeth" I attempt to show that the often overlooked has creative value. The Wyeths, Hopper, Homer, Kent, deKooning, Benton and Pollock are all inspirations who continue to have an effect on my work.
