RECOGNITION

Thomas Legaspi is a New York City based artist working within the context of contemporary realism. He has exhibited in national and international exhibitions while accumulating awards and merits of distinction.

His work centers on the narrative potential of figurative art by exploring the emotive introspective states of fragility, dualism, conflict, identity and irony. He pursues images of resolve, and surrender in order to attain personal peace. He is motivated by many vehicles of inspiration including genre paintings, abstract expressionism, and the modern cinematic media. While many of his works are grounded in realism, he often explores modern aesthetic sensibilities of contemporary paint application techniques, mixed media and expressionistic experimentation. The artist strives to create work that has an undercurrent of a positive resolution amidst a measure of strife and difficulty.
