An exciting fusion of tradition and technology
Trevor Heath's prints interweave his traditional drawing and painting skills with high definition, digitally created elements such as typography, revelling in the opportunities opened up by new technologies. He personally handles every stage, from picking up the pencil or brush, on through multilayered digital explorations to making his original giclee prints of the complete image.

He is fascinated by the crossover between fine art and illustration, many of his favourite artists having been illustrators. In his strong, distinct style it is possible to see echoes of their work: Peter Blake's portraits, mixing fine art painting with words and graphics; the commercially influenced simplicity of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein; the use of line drawing and colour in the innovative work of Eagle comic artists Frank Hampson and Frank Bellamy.

Heath's work also reflects various aspects of popular culture: the interplay between words and pictures; the imagery used in films; the typography on magazine covers, ads and packaging.

A lifetime of art
Trevor Heath's art school training started in 1960 when art schools were about to become the birthplace of much of the music and pop art at the forefront of Britain's swinging 60s. After two years of thorough grounding in the traditional skills of drawing and painting at Wimbledon Art School he switched to Epsom Art School to specialise in graphic design for two years, graduating with first class honours.

His career progressed through top London advertising agencies before setting up his own advertising and design company in London in 1972. His work, now encompassing copywriting as well as art direction, ranged from TV commercials, posters and press ads to packaging and corporate identities, much of it for brand-leader companies. His experience of combining words, typography and images is now a major influence on his own art. He has travelled extensively through Europe and America absorbing their commercial and fine art cultures and now works full time as an artist from his studio in Surrey. His prints are in collections in America and Europe as well as the UK.,
