About Twyla Gettert
I have been a full-time artist for over 20 years. My art is in over 65 corporate collections and I have shown in galleries nationally. My art is created in several styles and mediums- painting, monotypes, photography, digital, and includes large- scale original canvasses up to 12 feet in length for corporate clients. I received a grant from the E.D. Foundation in NYC and graduated from the University of Iowa. My art studies began with classical portrait and figurative painting and gradually turned to abstract and non-objective abstract. This led me to create large-scale paintings. Wanting to re-examine my work and turn in different directions to enhance creativity, I began in 1999, the study of Sumi, Chinese brush painting, and Chinese calligraphy with the renowned Taiwanese artist, Yueh Mei Cheng. I also studied Printmaking for 5 years with a master Printmaking Studio in Madison, WI. I am inspired by the Abstract Expressionists, By sharing my personal vision and emotion in painting, I hope to draw viewers closer to their own inner worlds.
