Artist Statement

My paintings invoke specific emotions from the audience without having a presence of something representational. Through my studies, I have gathered the information and tools that enable me to bring forth such depictions. Painting abstractly allows ones mind to run wild and create something totally non-representational. For me this holds just as much weight as if you were to look at a portrait.
The motivation behind my work is not driven by the desire to be the best, but rather to create something to catch ones eye. Inspired by the techniques of artist such as Antoni Tapies, Sam Fischer, and Robert Motherwell I have molded my own style that incorporates the wild nature of throwing paint with the subtleties of gentle washes to move ones eye. By manipulating my painting materials, I incorporate fine grit sand, motor oil, and various untraditional art supplies so that my paintings appear unfamiliar to my audience.
