Abeer Farid Shawky is an Egyptian visual artist whose work sits at the intersection of ancient symbolism and contemporary expression. Working in acrylic and mixed media, she builds paintings around flowing line — a signature language of movement that runs through hair, water, fire, and botanical form — animated by the symbols of pharaonic Egypt: the lotus, the Eye of Horus, the Ankh, solar cycles.
Her background is cinematic. Daughter of the legendary Egyptian actor Farid Shawky, she grew up inside a world where storytelling, image, and emotional truth were the currency of daily life. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Film Directing from the Academy of Arts in Cairo, and that training is visible in every canvas — in the way she frames a figure, controls negative space, and builds tension between stillness and movement.
Abeer's paintings center on the feminine — not as subject, but as force. Her women do not pose. They rise, resist, burn, and endure. The recurring motifs are not decorative; they are a visual language inherited from 5,000 years of Egyptian culture and filtered through one woman's personal history.
She has exhibited at the Cairo Opera House (solo exhibition, 2022), Al-Ahram Art Hall, Beit El-Sennari, the Academy of Art...
