Francesca Licchelli

Francesca Licchelli is a contemporary painter whose work bridges classical realism and modern macro-botanical art. Trained in traditional drawing and academic oil techniques, she builds each painting through a deep study of form, light, and structure — a foundation that shapes her refined floral and still-life compositions.

Her practice focuses on the magnification of natural subjects: roses, hydrangeas, camellias, citrus fruits, and foliage are brought into intimate proximity, revealing subtle chromatic transitions and quiet atmospheric depth. Francesca Licchelli’s artistic foundation is rooted in classical training, developed through apprenticeship under two respected masters. This formative path provided rigorous instruction in drawing, traditional oil techniques, and historical methods such as fresco, mosaic, pictorial decoration, and artistic stained glass — disciplines that shaped her understanding of structure, color harmony, and craft.

Her continuous practice includes extensive life-drawing sessions with model, a discipline that strengthens her command of anatomy, proportion, and gesture.
This classical education, combined with a contemporary sensibility, underpins the precision and chromatic balance evident across her works in oil, soft pastel, and watercolor.

Since 2015, Francesca Licchelli has participated in curated and collective exhibitions across Italy, presenting her work in professional galleries and cultural spaces in cities such as Rome and Florence.
These exhibitions highlight her ongoing engagement with the contemporary art landscape and her commitment to refining classical realism and macro-botanical painting through oil, pastel, and watercolor.
