Wayne Pierce has been creating fine art photography for over five decades. The beginning of his journey to explore and capture our world on film began when he was a teenager growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Two important events occurred in the summer of 1963 that forever changed his life. On his 14th birthday, Wayne received a Kodak Brownie Starmite II camera complete with a built-in flash, a package of Sylvania flash bulbs and a roll of 127 Kodacolor film.
The second event was Wayne’s discovery of a small downtown residential building that had been converted into the Grand Rapids Art Gallery. Within those small rooms which held the city’s permanent collection, he found a sanctuary, a source of inspiration and his love of fine art photography. The paintings, sculptures and photographs captivated his imagination and fueled a powerful desire for artistic expression that has lasted his entire life.
After graduating from Western Michigan University, Wayne divided his time between his solitary artistic life and his very public life of providing executive and corporate initiative leadership to high performance organizations.
