‘Draw what you see, not what you know’ – is a motto that young Qatari artist, Maryam Abel believes in and has been taught by her father Muhammed Ali, a renowned Qatari artist who is one of the founding fathers of Qatar’s Fine Arts Association, among his many other achievements.

Her artwork embodies the soul of an enthusiast, a dreamer and a perfectionist. Her sketches remind one of the innocence and compassion she brings to the canvas. The eyes, a distinctive feature in all her portraits is the most prominent feature that stands out in her artwork.
