ABOUT
EDUCATION

My abstract paintings are deeply influenced by the old Japanese principle of Wabi Sabi, which sees beauty in the fleeting, grace in imperfection and is characterized by both, melancholia and vitality. I use acrylic colors mixed with natural materials as ash or sand to achieve multiple layers of textures and structure as a distinctive feature of my work. I am aiming at acknowledging the beauty in fugacity through greatest possible attention to the smallest detail which might easily be overlooked on first glimpse but nevertheless is crucial for the overall impression of the
painting.

As a painter I am an autodidact. Cy Twombly, Antoni Tápies, Emil Schumacher and Shozo Shimamoto are among the many painters that made a lasting impression and hence influenced my work.
