Michael Hennessy

Born in 1964 in New York City, I have lived most of my life in the Hamptons, Long Island.
I am an established furniture designer and musician and in recent years I have extended my skills into painting, experimenting with the skills, patterns and materials that I have used over the years.
I am now dividing my time between Sag Harbor; Chelsea, NYC; and Bath, England.

The concept of the art is that life is journey with layers of activity, interlocking, with geometry and pattern throughout.
My work involves symmetry, flow, anomaly, order and chaos, working with and against one another. At times the layers may be more or less apparent depending on what we choose to see.
So, with pause between thought, the space is filled with focused action.

I owned a successful home furnishings store in Bridgehampton from 1999-2009. I designed and built furniture for many high-profile clients including Tiffany's, Kenneth Cole, Kelly Klein, Jon Stewart, Eric Fischl, April Gornik, Barry Sonnenfeld and Roger Waters.
This year I have opened Michael Hennessy Home, a gallery/home store at 207 West 18th St, NYC, showcasing the work of other artists and designers as well as my own.,
