"The painting of Simonas Skrabulis has always been different, overstepping frames of the traditional Lithuanian painting school: much more free, thrusting, purer… His oeuvre is distinguishable for energetic brightness, loads of goodness that flow from the moral convictions and spiritual purity of the artist.
The pictures thematically based on the Battle of Grunwald even more underlines the otherness of thinking and world perception of the artist. Alongside the classical battle-piece compositions the artworks of Simonas seem to be drastically open, flashing with tragedy of the moment, pierced with the culmination of crash between death and life. Amplifying the traditions of abstract expressionism the author invokes the intimate and familiar for himself way of painting. Creating historical dramatic visions with eloquent strokes, colors and lines only, he conveys the universality of fighting spirit and exclusive emotional field of Grunwald."
